The spaces of Via Bignanico
Nusery, Children's House, Primary School
The squares
The building’s plan is developed in a succession of squares around which the classrooms of the different paths overlook. These open spaces are important places for meeting and reflection.
One of these is the Piazza delle Parole (The Word Atrium), which in the morning is the first place for children and teachers to meet and exchange ideas; this is where pre-school is held.
Another significant space is the Piazza dei Pensieri (The Thoughts Atrium), the largest space, onto which several classes overlook. It is a workplace where it is easy to find several children engaged in collaborative projects.
This square also hosts large meetings where children are involved in sharing important news and facts, but also to find the common thread of rules and good daily practices.
Classrooms

Library
On the first floor, the school offers a library that holds about 2,000 titles (continually increasing!) ranging from fiction to encyclopedias, with a rich selection also in English. This environment is designed to support students in cultivating curiosity towards reading and to provide them with help in studying and research.
It is also possible for students to borrow books for reading or consultation.
LABS OF VIA BIGNANICO
Art and image
The art and image laboratory offers an ideal environment in which to learn and practice painting, drawing and modelling in a free and safe way. In this context, the development of skills typical of the design process is encouraged, even for complex projects.
The laboratory activities range from themes related to the history of art and artistic movements to subjects agreed with the class teachers, in line with the educational program.

LABS OF VIA BIGNANICO
Music
The music lab houses a baby grand piano and provides children with a variety of conventional and non-conventional materials to experiment with sound. As they grow in their journey, the lab will provide opportunities for them to challenge themselves in singing, acting, improvisation, diction, and dance.

Information Technology
The computer lab is equipped with 12 workstations where children and teenagers can begin to familiarize themselves with technological tools, first experimenting with writing activities and gradually arriving at using these tools competently for studying and for the first approaches to coding.

LABS OF VIA BIGNANICO
English
The curriculum includes 9 hours of English per week, 3 of which are spent in the laboratory, where students and teachers work in a scheduled manner with the entire class.
The laboratory is then open, with a teacher in charge, for students who decide spontaneously to participate in optional activities in small groups.

The garden
The outdoor space of the school in via Bignanico, rich in greenery and planted with fruit trees and evergreens, has an area equipped for the Nursery, an area for the Children’s House, while for the Primary School there are two soccer fields, a volleyball court, a green amphitheater, two spaces for basketball and an area used as a vegetable garden.
It is experienced daily by all students as an integral and fundamental part of the Montessori teaching activity, becoming a place of meeting, exploration and observation, study, as well as fun.
School gym
The headquarters in via Bignanico has its own gym integrated with the main structure where children can carry out activities related to the motor program, but which also serves as a recreational space in case of bad weather and a meeting point for moments of sharing.
After class time, the gym hosts some extracurricular activities intended exclusively for students, in collaboration with local sports associations.
